BlackRock’s crypto AUM jumped 63%. But only a quarter of that was new money.
Per its Q3 2026 report (via Binance News), digital-asset AUM rose from $48.8B to $79.6B, a $30.8B gain:
📈 $22.9B from price appreciation (~74%)
💵 $7.9B from net inflows (~26%)
Put differently, the 63% is roughly 47% price + 16% fresh capital.
Why it still matters: the $7.9B reversed ~$2.2B of H1 outflows, and these products earned ~$39M in fees.
Reality check:
• AUM is still ~23% below the $104B peak of Sept 2025
• Crypto is only ~0.5% of BlackRock’s $15.5T total AUM
• Figures are as of Sept 30, before this week’s CPI-driven sell-off (BTC ~-3%, ETH ~-6% today)
My read: price drove the rebound, so AUM can fall just as fast if BTC keeps sliding. The real signal is whether IBIT/ETHA flows stay positive during the drawdown.
Would you buy this dip, or wait for flows to confirm? 👇
