Vitalik Puts AI Privacy to the Test.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin says he tested AI recommendations using sensitive personal data, including health and travel information. A local model handled the initial queries before sending only limited requests to remote frontier models.
The experiment used zkAPI to protect payment identity and Tor to add network-level privacy. Buterin said the setup worked, but the trade-off was clear: stronger privacy also meant remote AI models had access to less information, limiting some of their capabilities.
