ETH MAY BE HEADING TOWARD A NEW MODEL BEYOND THE BLOCKCHAIN
ETH may be heading toward a major redesign: Vitalik Buterin believes that by 2030, Ethereum may no longer be adequately described as simply a blockchain. His “cryptographic world computer” vision focuses on splitting data and computation across components, then using cryptographic proofs to verify the results.
My take: this is not just about making Ethereum faster. The deeper change is how the network verifies state. Instead of requiring every node to download data and re-execute every transaction, part of the workload could happen elsewhere while nodes verify proofs. Recursive STARKs, SNARKs, data sampling and signature aggregation all point in the same direction: reduce the workload for individual nodes without giving up verifiability. If successful, decentralization could shift from an “efficiency cost” into a scaling advantage.
I would not treat this as a short-term ETH price signal. I will watch upgrade execution: Hegotá after Glamsterdam, FOCIL, quantum resistance and how Ethereum handles state. If these pieces work reliably, the long-term value is in the infrastructure rather than a single price move.
Do you think Ethereum in 2030 will still be called a blockchain, or become a new type of computing infrastructure? If this logic makes sense, drop a follow for more market breakdowns.
