ZEC GAINS OVER 8% AFTER THE COMMUNITY BACKS NU7
Zcash reached near-unanimous support for NU7: 99.9% of participating ZEC voted to cut block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, while 98.9% chose to keep the current halving model. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated, far above the 1 million ZEC threshold required.
What interests me about NU7 is that this is more than a speed upgrade. Faster blocks can reduce confirmation waiting time, but the reward per block must also fall proportionally so daily ZEC issuance stays unchanged. That prevents higher throughput from creating additional issuance pressure. More importantly, keeping the halving model shows the community still favors a predictable issuance schedule, while the Network Sustainability Mechanism has been pushed to 2031.
The price reaction is also notable: ZEC gained more than 8% in 24 hours and reached 1,283 USD, its highest level in eight years. Still, I would not treat that move as proof that the trend must continue. ZEC had already climbed sharply from around 225 USD in March, meaning expectations are higher and reactions to new information can become more volatile.
I would focus on NU7’s testnet/mainnet rollout and whether network activity actually improves once blocks become faster. If price keeps rising while usage data fails to follow, I would stay defensive rather than chase the move. Do you think NU7 can create real demand for ZEC, or mainly strengthen its privacy narrative? If this logic makes sense, drop a follow for more market breakdowns.
