Politics and memecoins are colliding again, and $LAPTOP might be one of the more unusual launches to watch.

The token is set to launch on Base with 1 billion tokens, including allocations for founders and an airdrop targeting wallets that previously lost money on $TRUMP. Kraken briefly posted a listing promotion before deleting it, while Base has clarified that there’s no partnership.

The interesting part for me isn’t really the political angle. It’s the distribution strategy.

Giving tokens to an existing group of traders creates instant attention and a built-in audience. But it also raises a pretty obvious question: what happens when those recipients get their tokens and decide to sell?

Memecoins can move incredibly fast when the narrative catches fire, but attention alone doesn’t guarantee lasting liquidity. The first few hours could be especially interesting if a large number of airdropped tokens hit the market at the same time.

I also wouldn’t assume that mentions of exchanges automatically mean confirmed listings. Until there’s actual trading support and meaningful liquidity, the launch still has plenty to prove.

Personally, I think $LAPTOP is less interesting as a political statement and more interesting as a market experiment.

Can a controversial narrative create enough demand to absorb early selling pressure?

Or does the airdrop itself become the biggest source of that selling pressure?

Either way, the first day could tell us a lot about how far a memecoin narrative can carry a token when liquidity meets hype.
