泰国推出 WORPT 支付服务，支持符合条件的外国游客将 USDT、USDC 兑换成泰铢，再通过当地 QR PromptPay 扫码付款。商家收到的仍是泰铢。

这意味着，稳定币的用途不再局限于交易所，还在向旅游、购物和跨境支付延伸。

不过，目前服务有使用资格限制，兑换手续费为每笔 1.5%，使用前需完成身份验证。

En un comunicado del 26 de octubre de 2026, Waan Exchange y WiPay anunciaron la disponibilidad de WORPT para turistas extranjeros. La aplicación convierte USDT y USDC a baht tailandeses (THB) para pagar mediante Thai QR PromptPay. El comercio recibe THB.

El servicio opera dentro de TouristDigiPay, un entorno regulado de pruebas. La SEC tailandesa incluye a Waan Exchange entre sus participantes; eso no equivale a una autorización general para pagar directamente con criptomonedas.

La web de WORPT especifica USDT y USDC en Ethereum (ERC20), verificación de identidad y una comisión de conversión del 1,5%, IVA incluido. Son condiciones del producto, no tarifas de Binance.

El evento oficial está previsto para noviembre. Según el comunicado, la tarjeta física Visa prepago se planea para mediados de noviembre y la virtual para comienzos de 2027: no deben confundirse con la disponibilidad anunciada del QR.

Referencia de mercado: el 27 de octubre a las 15:55 UTC, 1 USDC se negociaba por 1,00122 USDT en Binance Spot, con -0,007% en 24 horas. Esa cotización no es el cambio a baht de WORPT.

Mi lectura: la utilidad dependerá del uso real y del coste total. La cercanía entre stablecoins no elimina el riesgo de perder su paridad, los riesgos de custodia ni las variaciones del cambio a baht. Más aplicaciones de pago tampoco implican una revalorización de ETH.

Thailand has launched WORPT, a digital wallet that lets foreign tourists convert USDT and USDC into Thai baht and pay merchants through the national QR PromptPay network. The app was built by Waan Exchange and Wipay under the Thai SEC's Tourist Digipay sandbox, with Tether, The Mall Group and Visa as partners. Merchants never receive crypto, as payments are settled in baht through standard systems. Visa prepaid cards linked to the same baht balance are planned, and an official launch event is set for November.

My take: this is a practical step for stablecoin utility rather than a price catalyst for the market. It works because it keeps the regulatory structure intact: tourists hold the stablecoins, merchants get baht, and the sandbox is limited to foreign visitors with KYC. The limits are real too, since it is a sandbox and stablecoins are still not legal tender in Thailand. If it scales, it shows how stablecoins can plug into existing QR rails instead of replacing them. I'll be watching how the Visa card rollout goes in November.
