Lightchain AI launched the public beta of chat-v2 on its Layer-1 mainnet on September 23. Fees start at 0.02 $LCAI per message.

The system uses blockchain contracts to handle AI requests. Eligible computing providers, called workers, claim requests and run the AI models that generate responses.

Cryptographic records let users check which worker submitted an answer and whether the answer matches the version committed to the blockchain. This can verify its origin and detect changes, but it does not confirm that the answer itself is factually accurate.

Users prepay an LCAI balance before sending messages and can withdraw unused funds. Lightchain AI says conversations are end-to-end encrypted. An optional memory feature stores information in the user’s browser and adds it to encrypted prompts when enabled.

The chat-v2 beta follows a longer Lightchain AI rollout. Its presale began in November 2024 and ran for 15 rounds plus a bonus round, with reported fundraising exceeding $21 million.

LCAI started trading on Uniswap on January 27, 2026, opening at $0.0074 before falling 80% within minutes. The mainnet was not live at the time.

The team postponed the July 31, 2025 mainnet launch, citing technical work and CertiK recommendations. Mainnet eventually launched on May 7, 2026.
