a16z crypto announces the launch of Lattice Jolt

#a16zcrypto has introduced #LatticeJolt , a lattice-based zero-knowledge virtual machine that replaces elliptic-curve cryptography with quantum-resistant alternatives. The #zkVM is designed to protect blockchain systems against future quantum computers capable of breaking today’s cryptographic foundations.

Lattice Jolt is positioned as an alternative within a16z’s existing Jolt zkVM framework. While lattice-based cryptography offers quantum resistance, it has traditionally required larger proofs and greater computational resources than elliptic-curve systems. Lattice Jolt makes proving and verification 2-3x faster while delivering sub-100 KB proofs, the smallest among post-quantum zkVMs.

📰 a16z crypto 发布开源 zkVM 新版本 Lattice Jolt，把原先依赖椭圆曲线的 Dory 换成基于格密码的 Akita。结果很直接：prover 和 verifier 提速 2—3 倍，证明体积压到 100KB 以下，还具备后量子安全能力。
🔥 同一台机器上，纯 CPU 每秒可证明超过 200 万个 RISC-V 周期；使用 Apple Metal 后，MacBook 每秒超过 1000 万周期。对比此前曲线版纯 CPU 约 100 万周期，这次提升确实有点猛。
💡 证明变小也很关键。其他后量子 zkVM 的证明通常在 200KB 以上，部分达到约 600KB；Lattice Jolt 已低于 100KB。prover 内存占用也从每周期约 300 字节降至 200 字节，手机端可处理数百万个周期。

说实话，后量子方案过去常给人“更安全，但更慢更重”的感觉。Lattice Jolt 这次反过来了：格密码在 128 位域就能达到对应安全级别，计算量比原来的 256 位域更低。不过隐私应用需要的零知识性，还要等后续配套论文加入。
