I almost ignored
@BabylonLabs_io Not because it looked bad. Because I thought I already knew the story.
Last night, I was scrolling through Binance Square. Almost every post was talking about rewards, APYs, integrations, or TVL. After reading a few of them, everything started sounding the same. Then one question popped into my head:
Why does every new way of using Bitcoin begin with asking Bitcoin to go somewhere else?
Imagine buying the strongest safe in the world, and the first advice you get is, Take everything out of it if you want it to be useful. Wouldn't that defeat the whole reason you bought the safe?
That's exactly why Babylon caught my attention. It doesn't try to make Bitcoin useful by sending it on another journey. It starts by respecting the one thing that made Bitcoin valuable in the first place: the idea that you shouldn't have to trust another system just to use it.
That sounds simple. It is not.
In crypto, we've quietly accepted that every new opportunity comes with another layer. Another bridge. Another wrapper. Another platform. Another assumption that someone or something has to stand between you and your Bitcoin.
Babylon feels like it's asking a question the industry stopped asking years ago:
What if progress isn't about adding more layers? What if it's about removing the ones that never needed to exist?
Maybe that's why some people understand Babylon immediately, while others don't see what's different. They're looking at the same protocol. One group sees another staking project. The other sees an attempt to keep Bitcoin's original promise intact while building something new around it.
I don't know if that'll become the winning model. But I do know one thing. The technologies that survive for decades usually don't ask people to compromise their original beliefs. They build around them.
Maybe that's the real story Babylon is trying to tell. And I think most of us have been looking at the wrong part of it.
What do you think? Have we normalized bridges and wrappers too much in DeFi?
