**🏦 HSBC Just Named Its Own Stablecoin — "RedCoin"**
A banking giant entering the stablecoin game isn't small news. HSBC has officially named its Hong Kong dollar-pegged stablecoin "RedCoin," with a launch targeted for H2 2026.
Why this matters for the broader market:
Traditional banks spent years dismissing crypto as a fad. Now one of the world's largest banks is building its own stablecoin infrastructure.
This follows a pattern we've seen all year — institutions moving from "watching crypto" to "building on crypto rails." Stablecoins like $USDT already process trillions in volume annually, and now legacy banks want a piece of that infrastructure instead of competing against it.
Circle has also been pushing MiCA compliance changes, noting only 3 of the top 30 stablecoins currently meet the standard — a sign regulators are tightening the space right as banks pile in.
The stablecoin race just got a very different kind of competitor.
What's your take — does a bank-issued stablecoin change anything for traders, or is it just plumbing most people will never notice? 👇
