@Nillion Covenants is something i only noticed after reading past the privacy pitch:
There is no voting round baked into how they resolve. Every node watches its own price feed and watches the chain for triggers addressed to its own key. When a condition is met, that node decrypts its own layer and posts its share onchain, no polling others, no quorum. A share either checks out against the commitment or it does not, that is the whole test.
Removing voting does not erase the latency between a condition being true and the response landing onchain, it just moves where that latency lives. The secret only reconstructs once at least k shares are posted, so the wait shifts from how long until nodes agree to how long until enough independent nodes show up. Real improvement, but not the same as instant resolution.
That is part of why Dusk launching on Ethereum interests me more than the Darkfall multichain expansion. Dusk is the foundation phase, where NilionCovenants move from computing over encrypted data toward sealing an instruction to a condition and publishing it directly on Ethereum mainnet, proving itself against real liquidity and block-space competition immediately.
Of the later roadmap phases, Nightside excites me most. It lets conditions be built from any feed capable of attesting to a fact, not just fixed markets, stretching Covenants past price triggers into anything observable and provable. Neon follows with a real language for those conditions, nesting, variables, loops.
Node operators earn ETH from trigger escrow for posting shares and reconstruction, while NIL emissions accrue separately by stake, two different reasons to participate. Staking NIL is also how they bond into the network. With Covenants live on Ethereum mainnet, my open question isn't whether the design works, it's whether it holds once usage scales and exposure behind each trigger grows.
