A Bitget informou uma grande violação de segurança em 24 de setembro, com a perda inicial estimada em US$ 351,6M. A exchange mais tarde revisou a estimativa dos ativos afetados para aproximadamente US$ 387,5M, após considerar ativos adicionais, incluindo Zcash e TRON.
🔒 Circle e Tether Tomam Medidas
A Circle colocou em blacklist uma carteira identificada como “Bitget Exploiter 8”, enquanto a Tether bloqueou posteriormente o mesmo endereço.
A carteira continha aproximadamente:
• 99.990 USDC
• 218.023 USDT
• 170,47 ETH
O bloqueio efetivamente travou cerca de US$ 318.000 em valor de USDC e USDT.
⚠️ Mas há uma grande limitação:
Os emissores de stablecoins podem congelar os próprios tokens, mas não podem congelar ETH nativo. Há relatos de que outras carteiras de exploradores ainda mantinham mais de 63.000 ETH.
O CEO da Bitget, Gracy Chen, disse que os atacantes comprometeram um sistema de backend na infraestrutura da carteira da exchange e falsificaram dados de transações, em vez de obter as chaves privadas dos usuários. A Bitget afirma que suas cold wallets não foram afetadas e que seu Fundo de Proteção ao Usuário tem mais de US$ 464M.
📌 A principal lição:
Este incidente mostra tanto o poder quanto os limites dos controles centralizados de stablecoins. USDC e USDT podem potencialmente ser congelados no nível do contrato do token, enquanto ativos como ETH não podem ser congelados por emissores de stablecoin.
