The Binance hacker has reportedly dumped more than 130 altcoins on EVM chains alone, converting a massive collection of tokens into approximately $279 million in assets.

The reported proceeds:
123,400 $ETH, worth approximately $277.26 million.
1.69 million $USDC.
Total: approximately $279 million.
But the number of tokens involved is almost as interesting as the amount recovered.

Dumping more than 130 different altcoins suggests the attacker is systematically consolidating a fragmented portfolio into fewer, more liquid assets.

ETH becomes particularly useful here. Instead of managing hundreds of different tokens with varying liquidity, the attacker can concentrate value into an asset with deeper markets and broader transfer infrastructure.

However, this process isn't without consequences.
Selling large amounts of thinly traded altcoins can create substantial slippage, drain liquidity and put additional downward pressure on already vulnerable tokens.

Smaller holders can end up absorbing part of that market impact.

There's also a distinction worth making: converting stolen tokens into ETH does not automatically mean the funds have been successfully laundered or become untraceable. The transactions remain visible onchain.
