Ethereum has an important test coming on October 6.

But it isn't an ETH mainnet upgrade yet.

Ethereum is scheduled to activate its upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade on the Sepolia testnet on October 6 at 13:53:36 UTC.

So why does this matter for $ETH ?

Glamsterdam is designed to improve how Ethereum builds and processes blocks, while creating a foundation for greater activity on the network.

Two major changes focus on how blocks are built and how Ethereum accesses and processes the data inside them.

But there's an important catch:

October 6 is a testnet milestone — not the final launch.

Ethereum is still testing the upgrade, including changes to gas pricing that could affect a small number of existing smart contracts. Most contracts are expected to be unaffected.

So:

October 6 = Sepolia test

Ethereum mainnet = date not decided yet

If testing goes well, Glamsterdam could become an important step in Ethereum's longer-term scaling roadmap.

The test is coming. The mainnet launch is still ahead.
