China is signaling it may allow companies including Alibaba and ByteDance to buy Nvidia’s new RTX Pro 5500 chips, according to The Information. Beijing’s industry ministry has reportedly asked companies to submit purchase plans and told some that approval is intended. Reuters said it couldn’t independently verify the report.

The potential move is notable because Beijing has also restricted Nvidia imports while pushing domestic chipmakers. ByteDance is reportedly considering an order of about 1 million chips, although the final amount would depend on government approval. 👀

Bitwise Pushes NEAR ETF Toward NYSE Arca 🚀

Bitwise has filed the paperwork to register its NEAR ETF shares for trading on NYSE Arca under the ticker NRR. The SEC filing was submitted on September 24, while the fund’s registration became effective the same day.

The proposed ETF would hold NEAR directly and include staking, giving traditional brokerage investors exposure without needing to manage the token themselves. The fund carries a 0.75% annual management fee. 👀

Quantinuum Quantum Breakthrough Uses 54 Qubits ⚛️

Researchers have demonstrated a new route toward universal quantum computing using Quantinuum’s H2 processor. The University of Chicago-led work used 54 qubits to manipulate non-Abelian anyons, exotic quantum objects whose braiding and fusion can perform the operations required for universal quantum computation.

The experiment combined braiding with fusion, extending what can be achieved through braiding alone. Researchers say the approach could provide greater flexibility for quantum algorithms, although the work remains at the research stage. 🔬
