SIP #2 Explained: Earn Yield for Holding Open PositionsEligible open positions can now earn a share of protocol fees over time. This rewards traders for holding conviction positions, while keeping the core mechanics of perps trading unchanged. Eligibility The second StandX Improvement Proposal (SIP #2) introduces Position Yield that applies to StandX perpetual positions including: Standard order book executionMarket ordersLimit ordersBlock trade settlementOther protocol-approved execution paths For purposes of SIP #2, the relevant unit is the resulting open position, not the opening path. What matters is the open position itself and whether it meets the protocol’s eligibility rules. This is what makes SIP #2 important. It adds a new layer to perps trading by recognizing time in position as something valuable. The longer and larger an eligible position is held, the more meaningful its role becomes in the fee sharing model. Example If the protocol subsidizes a base Position Yield of 3%, and the average protocol leverage is 1x, a user like Jim could use 100 $DUSD in margin to open a 300 USD long position on BTC at 3x leverage. In this example, Jim’s Position Yield on margin would be 9%, because 3% multiplied by 3 equals 9%. This Position Yield is separate from the standard DUSD yield earned on margin. So, if the DUSD margin yield were 4%, Jim would earn 4% in DUSD margin yield plus 9% in Position Yield, for 13% total yield on margin. Hedged Example Jim could also open a 300 USD ETH short at 3x as a hedge. That gives him 2 separate 3x positions, or 6x total eligible position exposure across the setup. So with a 3% base Position Yield, the combined Position Yield is 6 X 3% = 18%. If DUSD margin yield is 4%, that brings total yield to 22%. In dollar terms, Jim earns 18 USD per year in Position Yield plus 4 USD per year in DUSD margin yield, for 22 USD total per year, while keeping reduced directional exposure.
