Despite the US-Iran ceasefire announcement, Japanese bond yields hit a new ATH.
This is mainly due to Japan's PPI inflation, which spiked to a yearly high.
Now the market expects that BOJ would be more hawkish and do rate hikes.
But the Japanese economy can't survive more tightening.
Its debt-to-GDP is already around 250%, the highest among all countries.
Just 6 years ago, Japan's interest rates were at almost zero and have increased almost 30x since then.
Every 25BPS hike would cost another $25 billion in interest expenses.
On top of that, Japan needs to refinance nearly 40% of its debt over the next 3 years.
With interest rates going up, this will clearly push Japan towards a recession.
And what happens when the world's free ATM goes into a recession?
The cheap money will stop, and investors will dump their assets in panic, leading to a massive crash.
