US lawmakers advance bill to lock #Trump's $Bitcoin reserve into law

The legislation seeks to codify Trump's Bitcoin reserve policy, locking up Bitcoin acquired through civil and criminal forfeiture for 20 years.
US lawmakers took a step on Wednesday to put US President Donald Trump's executive order to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve into law.

The American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026 (H.R. 8957) passed the US House Committee on Financial Services in a 28-21 vote. The bill would establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate Digital Asset Stockpile within the Department of the Treasury for federally held Bitcoin and other digital assets acquired through criminal or civil forfeiture.

"We cannot allow Bitcoin to be held by the federal government to languish in fragmented and inconsistent custody," said US Representative Nicholas Begich, who introduced the bill on May 21. "It poses unacceptable cybersecurity risks and fails to give an adequate accounting of what the federal government actually owns."

The move brings Washington closer to making Bitcoin a lasting part of the federal government's reserves.

The organization recently issued a decree on this matter, according to a report by Russian media outlet RT News.

There has been a long-standing debate in Islamic countries about whether cryptocurrency is compatible with Islamic law or Sharia. Some argue that digital finance is not incompatible with Islam. Others say that it is somehow related to gambling. In this situation, in 2021, Indonesia's religious body declared cryptocurrency-based transactions haram for Muslims.In an interview with the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, one of the top leaders of the Russian Ulema Council and the Mufti of Moscow, Ildar Alauddinov, said, "The Council always supports those sectors of Internet technology that are directly related to improving the quality of life of the people. In light of this policy, the Council believes that there is no religious obstacle for Muslims to use and invest in cryptocurrencies."

Mufti Alauddinov also said that this decision was taken in consultation with ulema and muftis from Germany, Türkiye, Jordan, and Egypt.
