I kept digging into the January Dusk incident, and honestly, the exploit itself wasn’t the most interesting part for me.

It was the gap in the story.

Dusk’s official Jan 17 notice described unusual activity involving a team-managed wallet, paused bridge services, recycled addresses, and said user funds were not impacted.

Meanwhile, other trackers were already framing it as an unauthorized actor draining DUSK through the Dusk → EVM bridge, with losses reportedly in the millions.

Same incident. Very different temperature. ⚠️

What I want to know is what actually happened on-chain during that window.

How many transactions?
How much DUSK moved?
Which addresses received it?
And how quickly did the flow stop after the bridge was paused?

The Part of Dusk’s RWA Story Nobody Talks About

I went back through Dusk’s SME tokenization piece expecting the usual RWA pitch.

More assets onchain. Faster settlement. Less friction.

But then I slowed down at the six-stage lifecycle table.

That’s where the interesting part is.

Every stage has a “what remains” column.

Corporate approvals remain.

Notaries remain.

Tax decisions remain.

Legal accountability remains.

And suddenly I’m looking at Dusk differently.

This isn’t simply “put SMEs onchain and delete the old system.”

It’s more like building a shared coordination layer around infrastructure that institutions already depend on.

The NPEX partnership makes this even more real: Dutch BV shares can still require a notarial deed even when tokenized.

That sounds less exciting than “RWA revolution” — but I think it may actually be more important.

Because the biggest bottleneck might not be ownership itself.

It might be reconciliation between all the people and systems responsible for that ownership.

Dusk can potentially make that record synchronized without pretending regulation disappears.

And that creates a fascinating question for me:

If tokenization doesn’t eliminate the old financial rails…

but makes them finally interoperable,

how much hidden friction is actually waiting to be removed?
