๐Ÿšจ Your Crypto Trading App May Be More Than Just Software.

Hereโ€™s the detail many crypto traders and developers could miss. ๐Ÿ‘€

The UKโ€™s FCA is examining where a technical crypto service ends and a regulated activity begins.

Think about the difference:

๐Ÿ”น App A: Simply connects you to a third-party service.

๐Ÿ”น App B: Compares prices, liquidity and costs, then selects the route for your trade.

These models may be treated differently under the FCAโ€™s proposed guidance. An app that actively arranges deals could need authorization.

โš ๏ธ This does NOT mean every algorithmic trading app needs an FCA licence.

The consultation closes November 18, 2026, ahead of the new UK crypto regime on October 25, 2027.

My take: For crypto builders, the real question is not just what technology you use, but what role your product plays in the transaction.

Developers: Could this change how you design crypto trading apps?
