#zcashnu7proposalwouldfreezesproutspending Zcash ($ZEC) core protocol contributors have submitted the Network Upgrade 7 (NU7) proposal, incorporating ZIP 2003 to deprecate version 4 transactions and permanently disable spending from Sprout—Zcash’s legacy privacy pool. Holding approximately 22,309 ZEC, the Sprout pool requires holders to migrate shielded balances to modern Sapling or Orchard address pools ahead of the conditional November mainnet activation window. While private keys remain under holder control, post-NU7 consensus rules will enforce unspendable conditions for legacy Sprout assets. Market Analysis & Network Migration Dynamics Phasing out legacy consensus pools mitigates long-term technical debt and secures modern Zero-Knowledge proof infrastructure. While legacy pool deprecations cause short-term operational friction for long-term holders, technical analysts emphasize that streamlining shielded protocol architecture clears structural hurdles for Zcash. As users migrate balances into Orchard and Sapling pools, spot order book metrics are closely monitored to evaluate potential liquidity shifts and market reaction near primary technical boundaries.
