The Ontology project team has announced a temporary suspension of block production on its Mainnet due to detected malicious activity.

The suspicious activity was identified on August 31 during a routine infrastructure security check, prompting network validators to immediately freeze the blockchain to mitigate potential threats.

According to the developers' official statement, user balances and ecosystem assets (including ONT and ONG tokens) were not affected and remain completely secure.

The network is currently offline while the team and validators conduct a comprehensive code audit and deploy an emergency security patch.

Market reaction has remained subdued, with the ONT token dipping less than 1% to trade in the $0.052–$0.053 range, as the swift network shutdown successfully prevented fund exfiltration and market panic.
