Harmony is proposing to shut down its mainnet and move $ONE to Ethereum.

The reason is unusual but serious: the project says growing threats from state actors and AI agents have become too significant to continue operating the network.

Under the proposal, validators would stop operating from Sept 10. Around $1.4M has been set aside to compensate validators for the remaining emission rewards.

For $ONE holders, the plan is to snapshot balances at the final block and airdrop equivalent $ONE tokens to the same wallet addresses on Ethereum. The project says total supply and emission rate would remain unchanged.

What stands out to me is the transparency plan: Harmony says the token contract, snapshot calculations and airdrop scripts will be published for public audit.
