Network Effects Are Crypto's Most Durable Moat
Metcalfe's Law states that a network's value grows proportionally to the square of its users. In traditional tech, this principle built trillion-dollar companies. In crypto, it may be the single most underappreciated valuation framework.
Consider
$BTC : every new holder, every exchange listing, every treasury allocation, every ETF product doesn't add linearly to its value — it multiplies it. A network of 500 million users isn't twice as valuable as one of 250 million. It's exponentially more valuable.
$ETH operates similarly on the developer side. Each new protocol deployed on Ethereum expands the composability surface. More protocols attract more liquidity, which attract more builders, which attract more users. This flywheel doesn't stop once it reaches escape velocity.
$SOL has shown what happens when network latency is removed from the equation — consumer apps, micropayments, and high-frequency on-chain activity that simply can't exist at higher gas prices. Its user base is younger, more active, and increasingly sticky.
The metric worth watching isn't price. It's monthly active addresses, developer commits, and protocol integrations. Those are the inputs. Price is just the output.
Build your conviction on network momentum, not narrative cycles.
