It is also how the network is built with applications in mind.

Zedger focuses on smart‑contract and protocol features, for financial applications while Piecrust, Dusk’s WASM‑based smart‑contract environment, works alongside it.

The part that interests me most is how these elements come together around a larger goal: creating blockchain infrastructure that can support financial applications that preserve privacy while still meeting compliance requirements.

Small anecdote — I almost filed this under "routine security notice" and moved on, bridge pauses happen. But sitting with it longer, it's a decent little window into how "advanced infra" projects actually triage risk versus how they market the tech.

I spent a lot of time digging into blockchain privacy because I wanted to understand what actually makes privacy useful in the real world. I had plenty of questions, especially around security, transparency, and whether privacy can really work alongside regulation. That research eventually led me to #dusk.
What caught my attention about $DUSK is that it is not simply about hiding transactions. The bigger idea is making privacy work with regulated onchain finance. The combination of Piecrust VM, ZK SNARKs, and selective auditing is interesting because it could allow users to prove certain requirements without exposing every sensitive financial detail.

So maybe the story isn’t:

“Blockchain removes the middlemen.”

Maybe it’s:

“Blockchain gives the middlemen a better settlement and recordkeeping layer.”

And honestly, that could be a much more realistic institutional use case.

If NPEX remains the regulated venue and the notary remains responsible for the legal transfer, Dusk’s value proposition becomes less about replacing the existing system and more about making the system underneath it faster, more synchronized, and easier to reconcile.

That changes the question I’m asking about Dusk.

Not “Can tokenization eliminate intermediaries?”

But:

Who captures the efficiency dividend when intermediaries no longer have to reconcile as much?

The issuer?

The venue?

The legal operators?

Or eventually the investors?

That feels like the more interesting Dusk thesis to investigate.
