Sometimes regulation tells us more about the future of crypto than price charts do. Russia has just taken a major step in that direction. President Vladimir Putin signed Russia’s first comprehensive cryptocurrency law, creating a formal framework for crypto exchanges, brokers, custodians, mining and digital assets But this is not simply about making crypto “legal.” From September 1, regulated crypto trading will become possible for eligible retail investors, while certain investors will face a 300,000-ruble annual purchase limit per intermediary and knowledge testing. At the same time, using crypto as a payment method for goods and services inside Russia will remain prohibited. What interests me is the direction. A country doesn't build rules around something it believes will simply disappear. Russia is choosing regulation, supervision and control rather than leaving the market entirely in a gray area. For me, the bigger question is not whether Russia is becoming “pro-crypto.” It’s whether we are entering a phase where governments stop asking whether crypto should exist, and start deciding how it should exist. That could become one of the most important stories for the next stage of the crypto market. Do you think regulation will strengthen crypto in the long term, or take away what made it different in the first place? #Crypto #Bitcthe #Regulation #Web3
