矛盾しているように聞こえますが、キャリートレードを見ると納得できます。
日銀は政策金利を25bp引き上げ1.25%とし、1995年以来の最高水準になりました。7対2の投票で、これもまた3カ月で2回目の利上げです。
それでも決定後、USD/JPYは158.05まで急伸しました。
なぜ？
市場は、反対票を投じた2人の日銀政策委員に注目し、予想していたより強硬ではないガイダンスだと判断しました。
それは日本にとどまらず重要です。
円はキャリートレードの世界的な資金調達通貨の一つでした。つまり、円で安く借りて、他のより高利回りの資産に投資するわけです。
では、本当の連鎖はこうです：
日銀が引き締め → 円の資金調達コストが上がる
しかし：
円が弱くなる → キャリーのポジションが自動的に解消を迫られるわけではない
