ETHZilla, a company that recently pivoted from biotech into cryptocurrency, has authorized a $250 million share repurchase program, highlighting how firms are beginning to tap crypto gains for liquidity.
The announcement follows ETHZilla’s $403 million Ethereum $ETH
purchase — totaling 102,237 ETH $ETH at an average of $3,948 per token. At current market prices (≈$4,559), these holdings are worth nearly $489 million, part of which will now be staked with Electric Capital.

BitMine Immersion (BMNR) now leads ETH treasuries with more than 1.7M ETH.

The pivot to ETH has revived ETHZilla’s stock price, which was previously struggling under weak fundamentals and heavy losses. In 2024 alone, the company reported an accumulated deficit exceeding $141 million. Despite this, management’s new buyback strategy echoes classic corporate triggers such as “market conditions” and “capital allocation flexibility.”
