Where does "HODL" come from?

In reality, it's not an acronym for "Hold On for Dear Life." It's just a typo.

In December 2013, when Bitcoin prices were crashing and people were panicking, a user named GameKyuubi posted a message on the Bitcoin Talk Forum. The title was "I AM HODLING." (Instead of writing "Holding," he mistakenly typed "HODL.")

In his post, he added, "I’m on whiskey… I’m not worried about the price drop. I’m not a good trader. So I won’t sell. I will just keep HODLING."

As a result, from that time on, people started using the term "HODL" as a rallying cry in the crypto world, meaning "don’t sell, just hold," and it remains so to this day.
