Since canines mature approximately 7x more rapidly than we do, they offer a highly effective and quick real-world model for evaluating anti-aging treatments. Recently, Genflow successfully met the primary endpoint for its SIRT6 gene therapy by decreasing the epigenetic age of 24 older dogs. Given these promising results, might you consider signing your own dog up for a longevity clinical trial?

A recent publication by Moreno et al. in the journal Aging Cell reveals that the biological process of autophagy does not merely decrease as we grow older. The researchers discovered that while the genes related to autophagy actually increased their activity in aging human skin cells, the observed cellular recycling rates failed to increase accordingly. Furthermore, the study examined a small group of individuals in the over-70s category and found that those with higher rates exhibited worse physical function. Consequently, these observations imply that this phenomenon is likely a physiological reaction to stress rather than a sign of improved cellular capacity.
