The part I'm struggling with is BABY's role around supply. The next unlock on August 10 releases around 136.11M BABY, roughly 1.2% of total supply, with most of it allocated to team, advisors, and early investors. In dollar terms it isn't massive, but when the token is already trading near a $44M market cap, every scheduled release becomes something I can't ignore.
That created an interesting thought for me. The person staking Bitcoin keeps exposure to BTC while earning rewards, but the person holding BABY is the one absorbing new circulating supply. Those are two very different risk profiles living inside the same ecosystem, and I don't think they're discussed enough.
I'm not bearish on Babylon. I'm just waiting to see how the market behaves after this unlock. If future BSN adoption creates enough demand to offset new supply, my view could change. Until then, I'm keeping my position small and watching rather than averaging down.

The detail that caught my attention was the governance and emergency-response multisig. It's described as a temporary safety mechanism that the protocol plans to remove over time. I don't see that as a weakness by itself. Early-stage infrastructure often needs operational safeguards while liquidity and adoption are still growing.
For me, the more interesting metric isn't how the vault works today. It's when Babylon feels confident enough to retire that safety net. That decision could reveal far more about the protocol's maturity than any marketing slogan.
I'm keeping my position small until I see progress there. If the multisig eventually disappears without disrupting confidence, that'll probably matter more to me than another short-term price move.

At first, that sounded like a pure advantage because every obligation can be traced back to the exact Bitcoin securing it.
Then I started thinking about what happens in practice.
DeFi usually works best when collateral is easy to split, combine and rebalance. Separate UTXOs don't naturally behave that way. A vault holding hundreds of uneven deposits can't magically treat them as one interchangeable asset. Each position has its own spending path, which could make rebalancing and liquidity management more complicated than most people expect.
That feels like an interesting trade-off rather than a flaw.

I almost moved some BTC into a wrapped version yesterday because I wanted to borrow against it, then stopped for a second. It wasn't the fees that bothered me. It was realizing how many extra trust assumptions I was adding just to access liquidity. I ended up doing nothing, and that pause made me look deeper into @BabylonLabs_io 's native Bitcoin-backed borrowing.
The part that caught my attention isn't simply that you can borrow against Bitcoin. It's how you do it. Instead of wrapping BTC or relying on a bridge, the design lets native Bitcoin remain the collateral while borrowing through Aave v4 powered by TBV.

The combination of self-custody, native BTC collateral, competitive DeFi borrowing rates, and a trustless design makes this one of the more interesting Bitcoin developments I've seen recently. For me, the biggest benefit isn't borrowing cheaper. It's keeping Bitcoin as Bitcoin while still putting it to work. That feels like a much cleaner direction for Bitcoin-backed DeFi.
