Strong jobs. Now comes inflation. This is where things get interesting.
I'm watching CPI closely.
Not because I want to predict the next green or red candle.
I want to see what it does to the Fed's expectations.
Last week's jobs report was strong:
162K jobs added vs ~53K expected.
That's a big beat.
And now CPI is coming just days before the Fed's September 15–16 meeting.
So we have two important signals hitting the market almost back-to-back.
If CPI Comes in Hot
A hot CPI on top of strong jobs could strengthen the "higher for longer" narrative.
That could mean:
Higher rate expectationsTighter liquidityMore pressure on risk assetsMore volatility in BTC and altcoins
But I wouldn't simply say:
Hot CPI = Bitcoin dump.
The reaction matters more than the headline.
If CPI Comes in Cool
This is where things get interesting.
Cool inflation would give the market a reason to expect a softer Fed.
But there's a problem:
The jobs data was strong.
So now the Fed has two different signals to deal with.
Strong jobs + cool inflation = mixed message.
And mixed signals can create some serious chop.
My Take
I'm not trying to predict CPI.
I'm watching CPI + expectations + Bitcoin's reaction.
Because the first move can easily be a trap.
Pump → reversal
or
Dump → recovery
can happen very quickly.
For me:
Hot CPI + strong jobs → downside deserves attention.
Cool CPI + strong jobs → watch if Bitcoin can actually hold the strength.
The goal isn't to predict every move.
The goal is to stay in the game when you're wrong.
That's the part of trading people don't talk about enough.
CPI is just one number.
But this time, it's coming after a jobs report that already changed the conversation.
So I'm watching the reaction, not just the headline.
