I have nothing but respect for @VitalikButerin, but focusing on upgrading @ethereum to RISC-V is a giant side quest and would be a colossal strategic mistake:
- Execution layer ossification and efficiency are goals in fundamental tension
- "zk" (or succinct) VMs all rely on special precompiles anyways
- RISC-V would do nothing to address @ethereum's DevEx and UX fragmentation problems or provide privacy-preserving apps, which people want way more than marginal efficiency gains

In my view, @ethereum should focus on something else, and time is running out for strategic vacillation.

every day I am amazed that @bitcoin's security model is simply broken and people continue to buy it, shill it, and act as if it could back world finance. "digital gold" is not compatible with Nakamoto consensus security!
