for a long time i believed using bitcoin as collateral always came with a tradeoff

you either had to wrap your bitcoin bridge it to another chain or trust someone else to hold it for you

after spending some time reading about @BabylonLabs_io i realized they are trying to solve that problem in a very different way

their trustless bitcoin vaults let people use native bitcoin as collateral while keeping full custody and without wrapping or bridging

that is a simple idea but it could make a big difference for how bitcoin is used across defi

what also caught my attention is that this is not just a concept anymore

native bitcoin backed borrowing is already live on the aave v4 public testnet which shows the technology is moving from research into real use

i also found it interesting that babylon started with one basic question

how can bitcoin become more productive without changing the trust model that made it valuable in the first place

instead of asking users to accept more risk they focused on building infrastructure that keeps bitcoin native while making it useful in more financial applications

if this approach continues to grow it could make borrowing against bitcoin much more accessible while preserving the security and ownership that bitcoin holders care about most
