AI agents don’t have an intelligence problem anymore. They have a trust problem. 🪁
AI agents can research, plan and make decisions. But would you trust one with your money? That hesitation is a major barrier to the agent economy.
How Kite approaches it:
🔹 Three-layer identity: Users remain in control while agents operate with delegated permissions. Short-lived session keys can help limit damage if compromised.
🔹 Kite Passport: Users can set spending permissions and limits, allowing agents to make authorized payments within approved boundaries.
🔹 x402 payments: Supports programmatic payments for compatible services, including API access.
🔹 Interoperability: Connecting agent tools and payment networks matters because the future agent economy won't live on one chain.
🔹 PoAI: Aims to recognize contributions from data providers, model builders and agent operators.
My take: programmable delegation is the key.
Think of a corporate card with rules: spend up to $50, use approved services, and stop when authorization expires.
The goal isn't just faster payments. It's letting agents act independently without giving them unlimited control.
The challenges:
• Competition from Coinbase's x402 ecosystem and other solutions.
• Real adoption must go beyond technical demos.
• Spending controls need to withstand real-world abuse.
• Long-term token utility depends on actual ecosystem activity.
What I'll watch: Mainnet usage, services accepting agent payments, reliable safeguards and continued developer adoption.
Kite is addressing an important challenge, but real-world usage will determine how successful this approach becomes.
