I believe it's time to stop looking at recent events individually and start connecting the dots.
• Heavy sell-offs across US stock markets.
• The major Binance security incident, involving approximately $6.34 billion in affected assets.
• South Korea's GOPAX exchange suspending deposits, withdrawals and trading as a precaution following a security threat.
• 12 DeFi websites targeted through domain hijacking attacks.
• Binance founder CZ stating that the crypto industry is now facing 3 to 4 attacks per day.
• Even traditional safe havens like gold and silver experiencing significant volatility and sharp price movements.
When I put all these developments together, one question keeps coming to mind:
Are we simply witnessing a period of extreme market uncertainty, or is something changing in the way individual investors are being pushed out of the game?
Retail investors have become more knowledgeable. They have learned to read charts, identify opportunities, manage risk and develop their own strategies.
Could this growing ability to compete be part of a much bigger shift in the market structure?
Personally, I have lost all my available trading capital over the past two weeks. Most of my remaining open positions are deeply underwater. Closing them would leave me with no meaningful capital to start again.
Ironically, being forced to step away from active trading has given me the opportunity to look at the bigger picture.
Now the question is:
What do market makers want?
Are they prepared to lose retail investors permanently and continue fighting among themselves, or will they eventually create relatively fairer conditions and bring back the individual investors they have driven away?
A market cannot remain healthy forever if only the biggest players are left trading against one another.
I'm not claiming to have all the answers. I'm simply watching the developments and questioning the direction things are taking.
