Binance and Polymarket have proposed a hard fork on the Polygon network to recover about 70.49 million $POL tokens. These assets, worth roughly $6.8 million, were stolen in separate attacks. While block producers already froze the five addresses involved, they cannot return the funds without a code change.

The plan involves moving 46.63 million $POL from one address linked to the Binance hack and 23.86 million $POL from four addresses tied to Polymarket. This follows a larger $6.3 billion exploit where attackers moved $SOL through THORChain to buy $BTC . The Polygon recovery would happen at a set block without changing the total supply.

Governance talks are set for Nov. 5. The fix must pass a vote and testing on the Amoy testnet before the mainnet fork is scheduled. Do you think a hard fork is the right way to handle frozen stolen funds, or should the ledger stay as it is?
