Treasury liquidity playbook for the next few months:
TGA drops from $1tn to $850bn by year-end → injects $150bn of reserves back into the system. Short-term easing.
Then Q1 hits: $800bn of borrowing to rebuild TGA back to $1tn → drains reserves again right before the debt ceiling kicks in.
Once the limit binds, Treasury burns through the account until we hit the X-date.
So the flow pattern is clear:
• November = liquidity tailwind
• Q1 = liquidity tightening
• Spring = potential flood when the ceiling gets resolved
More T-bills coming = more reserve management ops = Fed has to keep managing this mess while pretending it's not QE.
This is the liquidity calendar. Trade accordingly.
