# LUNC Four and a Half Years Later: Not Dead, but No Miracle
When Terra collapsed in May 2022, many called $LUNC finished. It fell from $119 to near zero, faced delistings and legal cases against its founder. Yet in late 2026, Terra Classic still trades, produces blocks and has an active community. Survival is not value creation.
## Current Status
Terra Classic is a community- and validator-led Proof-of-Stake network. On Oct. 26, it upgraded to Core v4.1.1 at block 31,010,600, fixing stalled transactions without changing tokenomics, burn tax or supply.
Reviving the Market Module, the former LUNC- $USTC arbitrage mechanism, remains under discussion; timing is unclear.
## Burns: Progress and Limits
About 462.5B LUNC has been burned from ~6.445T total supply (6.7%). Binance burned ~88.1B in 50 monthly rounds. Its Oct. 1 burn was 334.9M (~$17,600), versus 5.3B on Jan. 1. On Oct. 23, a ~28.9B LUNC transfer triggered a 347M burn.
At 100M burns daily, annual reduction would be 36.5B, just 0.6% of supply. Real network use and demand matter more.
## Price and Risks
LUNC trades at $0.000043–0.000046; market cap is $240–250M, down ~18% in a month. A May burn/governance catalyst pushed it near $0.0001, a 13-month high. Thin liquidity amplifies moves.
Risks include reliance on Binance burns, unresolved Do Kwon/Terraform legal issues, supply above 5.5T (making“one cent”unrealistic), and weak application demand.
## View
Calling LUNC dead ignores 4.5 years of operation, upgrades and nearly 7% of supply burned. Expecting a return to past highs is equally unrealistic. LUNC remains speculative, volatile and news-sensitive;any position should be limited to what one can afford to lose.
LUNC passed the survival test. Its harder challenge is growth—and that requires real demand, not burn headlines.
What could be its catalyst: burns, the Market Module or something else?
