North Korea-linked hackers moved $6.36B off Binance on October 29, the largest crypto hack on record, draining wallets across ten chains from Ethereum to Solana. Binance says it's frozen roughly $3B of it, but the market didn't wait around to see how the rest shakes out.

Leveraged positions got torn apart in response. Liquidations jumped roughly 4x to $1.57B in 24 hours, and BTC and ETH alone accounted for more than half of it. Bitcoin dropped to a six-week low near $76.4K before clawing back. The split is the real story: longs ate the overwhelming majority of the damage, not shorts. When a venue gets hit, cascading stop-outs hunt leverage first and ask questions about the exploit second.

If a $6B exchange breach barely moves your funding assumptions, is counterparty risk already priced in, or is everyone just betting it won't be their exchange next time?
