ETH is trading near $2,250 after a rough October that erased most of the previous month's gains. While price action looks heavy, the on-chain picture is more nuanced.
Staking continues to climb. Roughly 43.8 million ETH, about 35.9% of the total supply, is now locked in the consensus layer, marking a fresh all-time high. Active validators now stand at around 814,000. This continues to remove liquid supply from the market, even as net issuance remains modestly positive.
At the same time, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have posted another stretch of outflows. The last several sessions have seen cumulative redemptions exceed $400 million, with BlackRock's ETHA accounting for the bulk of the selling. This institutional weakness contrasts with the continued absorption of ETH into staking contracts.
The result is a quiet divergence: more ETH is being taken offline through staking, while ETF wrappers continue to see capital leave. Whether this creates a tighter float for any future demand recovery, or simply reflects continued distribution by larger holders, remains the key question heading into November.
