The important part of Binance’s $6.3B #security incident isn’t the headline size. It’s the attack path and what containment has not yet proven.

Binance’s initial investigation points to a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop that let the attacker reach a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawals. The exchange says there is no evidence of leaked wallet private keys. About $3B has been frozen on-chain, while #Binance says SAFU and company funds will cover losses and user funds remain safe.

That separates three things traders should not mix up: assets frozen, assets recovered and customer balances protected. They are not the same.

Deposits and withdrawals remain suspended. For $BNB and exchange-risk sentiment, the next confirmation is operational: services resume, an updated Proof of Reserves appears and the post-mortem explains how authorization controls failed.
