Aviva has put £50 million into a new tokenized sterling money-market fund share class on the XRP Ledger, according to today's joint announcement with Ripple. The investment buys fund shares, not XRP.
The much larger figure in the announcement — about £22 billion — is the existing Sterling Liquidity Fund's total assets. It is not tokenized AUM, and the announcement does not give a total size for the new share class.
Eligible investors with digital wallets can access the class through a “digital twin” structure: their fund-share holdings can be represented on-chain while the conventional fund remains in place. The underlying assets stay with BNY Mellon, the fund's custodian. What XRPL adds here is a digital record of share ownership, not a new home for the fund's debt portfolio.
