After watching enough crypto cycles, I've learned that sometimes your trade is exposed before it even happens.

That's one reason Nillion caught my attention. Its Covenants aren't just another promise of fairer trading. The idea is to keep instructions encrypted until specific conditions are met, instead of exposing everything upfront.

DUSK, the first release in Nillion's seven-era Encrypted Markets roadmap, is already live on Ethereum mainnet.

Imagine setting a conditional sell without revealing your next move to everyone watching the chain. With Covenants, instructions can stay encrypted until the trigger condition is satisfied.

What interests me most isn't privacy as a buzzword. It's what this could eventually mean for traders, autonomous AI agents, auctions, and applications handling sensitive information.

But I'm not ignoring the limitations.

In DUSK's current phase, participating nodes can still see trigger conditions. Hiding those conditions from nodes is planned for the later Neon phase. And even with better encryption, MEV, liquidity problems, and execution risks won't suddenly disappear.

That's why I'm more interested in watching what developers actually build than getting excited over another roadmap.

For me, NIL is worth following because protecting trading intent solves a real problem. Whether Covenants delivers at scale is something only real adoption can prove.
