Attackers bought authentic devices, modified them and redistributed them through Southeast Asian resale channels, backed by a multimillion-dollar operation to steal funds and launder the proceeds.
Ledger has instructed authorized resellers and distributors across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to temporarily HALT sales. It is also banning open-shelf displays and the resale of returned devices.
The company says the attack was confined to local third-party distribution channels, maintaining that its secure chips, BOLOS operating system and internal servers remain uncompromised.
