✅ Core month-over-month versus consensus.
✅ Both year-over-year readings.
✅ Which components drove the change.
An energy-driven rise with softer core inflation can produce a different reaction from broad inflation pressure.
My trade filter: if headline and core send conflicting signals, wait for oil and Treasury prices to establish direction. One surprising number doesn’t automatically justify an entry.
