S&P 500 looks cold on the surface. Underneath, it is not.
Binance has it tagged COOL. The line is drifting lower. Then you check the split. 340 names up. 161 down. That is almost the whole index.
Most stocks are green. The index is not. That usually means the big weights are heavy, not the whole market.
If that split holds, I do not treat this as a broad selloff. Dips in the index get bought while breadth stays this wide. The tape can grind back up once those large names stop leaning on it.
The other side is simple. If Up drops under Down and the line keeps making lower highs, COOL stops being noise. Then the weakness is real, and the path is lower, not a bounce.
Right now I am watching the 340, not the label. Breadth still has the bid. The index just has not caught it yet.
