The perpetual future, a contract with no expiry date, was born in crypto. On 3 October the US CFTC allowed a US-regulated derivatives exchange to offer true perpetuals on 6 broad stock-index contracts. Until now, US versions carried a 25-year expiry date. The relief runs to 20 October.
Perpetuals are the most traded product in crypto. Now the same design is reaching traditional markets.
