DOGE IS MOVING CLOSER TO AN ETHEREUM-LIKE APPLICATION ECOSYSTEM
DogeOS has opened its public testnet, bringing smart contracts to an application layer built on Dogecoin. This opens the door to trading, lending, stablecoins and games, while fees on the layer are paid in DOGE and the native Dogecoin network remains unchanged.
My take: this matters because DOGE could move from an asset mainly used for trading toward having a broader role in application activity. If real users show up, DOGE demand could come from fees and ecosystem usage instead of relying only on market sentiment. But the key risk is that the native Dogecoin network cannot currently verify DogeOS transactions itself. The system still relies on a validator group, while the proposal to let Dogecoin miners verify them has not been implemented. I therefore see this as a technology test, not proof of adoption yet.
I’ll watch the number of real applications, transaction activity and how the validator model evolves. If usage grows while security remains dependent on a small group, I’ll stay cautious. If Dogecoin moves toward broader verification and gains real users, I’d consider increasing DOGE exposure.
Could DogeOS give DOGE broader utility? If this logic makes sense, drop a follow for more market breakdowns.
