A dollar chart does not tell the whole story. Today, SOL gives a clean example.

At 11:08 Beirut time, Binance's 24-hour spot windows showed:
• SOL/USDT: $118.34 (-4.87%)
• BTC/USDT: $83,000.72 (-2.16%)
• SOL/BTC: 0.0014257 BTC (-2.74%)

Why the numbers fit: SOL/USDT is roughly SOL/BTC × BTC/USDT. SOL lost value against BTC while BTC itself lost value against USDT. Compounded, -2.74% and -2.16% imply about -4.84%—close to SOL/USDT's -4.87%. The small gap is normal because these rolling windows close a few milliseconds apart.

The useful habit is to check both pairs. The dollar pair shows portfolio impact; the BTC pair shows relative strength inside crypto. In this snapshot, SOL's weakness was not only a broad-market move—it also underperformed BTC.
